Educational Partners

School plays an important role in the lives of young people. When young people believe that adults in their schools care about them, they are less likely to become involved with gangs. When young people feel good about their academic skills, connected to school, and believe that education leads to a successful career they are less likely to become involved in gang activity. Our five educational partners are: Carpinteria Unified School District, Santa Barbara Unified School District, Santa Barbara County Education Office, Santa Barbara City College, and University of California, Santa Barbara.

Carpinteria School District The Carpinteria Unified School District provides public education services to students in the Carpinteria Valley, with district boundaries reaching south to the Ventura County line and north to the community of Summerland. The District, serving approximately 2300 grades K-12 students, has nine schools – one comprehensive high school, two small alternative high schools, one middle school, and four elementary schools.
The mission of the Santa Barbara Unified School District is to ensure the educational success of all students through high expectations and a commitment to excellence and to empower them to reach their full potential as responsible, ethical, and productive citizens in a diverse and changing world. Ismael Huerta is the school district’s bilingual outreach worker. He can be reached at 729-3493 est. 6284
